History and Background of NAMUNA Integrated Development Council.
NAMUNA Integrated Development Council (NAMUNA) was established in January 2003 by a group of socially committed individuals in Lumbini Province, Nepal. The organization was founded with the vision of bridging the development gap between urban and rural communities and ensuring equitable access to health, social services, and opportunities for marginalized populations.
Since its inception, NAMUNA has been committed to promoting inclusive and sustainable community development through rights-based approaches. Initially focused on improving maternal and child health, the organization gradually expanded its work to include HIV prevention and care, disaster risk reduction, psychosocial counseling, gender equality, and social protection.
Over the past two decades, NAMUNA has emerged as a trusted local actor with strong ties to government bodies, development partners, and community networks. It has successfully implemented programs across Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, and Palpa districts in collaboration with organizations such as USAID, FHI360, UNICEF, and Lumbini Provincial Hospital. These initiatives have addressed critical issues affecting vulnerable groups, including people living with HIV, survivors of gender-based violence, and disaster-affected communities.
NAMUNA continues to grow as a dynamic institution rooted in community participation, transparency, and accountability. Its people-centered approach, integrated service delivery, and multi-sectoral engagement have positioned it as a leading non-governmental organization in the Lumbini Province committed to inclusive development and social justice.
